The best international premiere cinema at the Madrid Films by Women Festival

International Competition: these are the 10 feature films we showcase! Directors Diana Cardozo and Cecilie McNair will present their films and maintain a dialogue with the public

The International Competition of this 5th edition will feature a careful and exquisite selection of 10 feature films, not released yet in Spain or Madrid, many of which have been awarded at International Festivals such as Sundance, San Sebastián, Venice, Locarno and Sitges. The Cine Estudio of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, an invaluable collaborator, will host the screenings for yet another year.

This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the best International Cinema produced during the last two years from 11 different countries: Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, Slovakia, Sweden, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine and United States. In addition, the audience will be able to listen to directors Diana Cardozo, from México, Cecilie McNair from Denmark and Karel Solei from Colombia in person. They will present their films in some screenings, making them unique and unrepeatable events.

The 2022 Best Film Award of the Madrid Films by Women Festival will be awarded to one of the 10 films selected in the International Competition. The International Jury, Irene Escolar, Víctor García León and Ana Katz, will be announcing their decision during the festival's Closing Gala. The award consists of three weeks of 4K colour correction at the Free Your Mind's Místika digital cinema room (estimated value €30,000) for the next feature film by the winning director; the creation of a DCP in original version with Spanish subtitles by the company Subtitula'm (valued at €1,000) and a model 12 Lite mobile phone, courtesy of Xiaomi Iberia
