Darling
Sinopsis
Fiction. Darling is a moving drama about a woman on the rollercoaster ride of her life, the story of a modern woman’s rise and fall, and about the men around her – but most of all, about the courage to rise up after everything has fallen apart.
A world-famous Danish ballerina, Darling, and her husband, Frans return to Copenhagen for the first time in years. Together, they are going to mount a performance of the classic ballet Giselle at the Royal Danish Theatre with Frans as choreographer and Darling in the title role.
On one of the first days of rehearsal, Darling collapses in pain. She denies it, but the prognosis is clear: Her hip is worn out, irreparable. Her life as a professional dancer is over. Darling’s world is in ruins. She tries to salvage her place in the world, to stay close to her art by working with the young ballerina, Polly and make her the Giselle she can no longer be, but as Polly develops as Giselle and becomes the centre of everyone’s attention, Darling begins to unravel.
