Sinopsis
Fiction. A group of German workers sets off to a remote site in the Bulgarian countryside. The foreign land awakens the men’s sense of adventure, but they are also confronted with their own prejudice and mistrust due to the language barrier and cultural differences. The stage is quickly set for a showdown when men begin to compete for recognition and favor from the local villagers.
The German filmmaker Valeska Grisebach makes western codes hers in her third film, tackling the issues of cultural difference and the acceptance of immigrants.
Valeska Grisenbach studied at the Berlin School. She is very fond of collaborative shoots, open to improvisation. In 2006 she made Longing, a sensation in festivals. Western was presented in the Un Certain Regard section of 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
