La novia del desierto
Sinopsis
Fiction. Teresa, a 54-year-old woman, has always worked as a maid for a family in Buenos Aires. When the family sells their house she must accept a job in San Juan, a distant city. Although she does not like to travel, she gets on a bus to cross the desert. At the first stop on the long journey, in the land of the miraculous Santa Correa, she loses her purse with all her belongings. The incident will make her meet El Gringo, a street vendor and the only person able to find her purse. What seemed to be the end of the world becomes the beginning of a new one.
Cecilia Atán
She was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. She started professionally as a trainee in the shooting of El Faro, by Eduardo Mignogna, with Ricardo Darín, in 1998. After being promoted to director assistant, a job she held in several films with different filmmakers, she directed her first short film, El mar, invited to the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival, as well as to competition at the Biarritz and Mar del Plata festivals. In 2015 she directed the documentary series of eight episodes Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, The story, nominated for an Emmy Award the following year. La novia del desierto is her first feature film as a director. She is the co-founder, along with Sebastián Mignogna and Guido Mignogna, of the production company El perro en la Luna.
Valeria Pivato
She was born in Buenos Aires in 1973. After studying Design and Filmmaking, she started working as director assistant, script supervisor and casting director. She collaborated with Juan José Campanella in El hijo de la novia (2001) and El secreto de sus ojos (2010), Best Foreign Film Oscar Award-winning. She was script supervisor in Nordeste (2005), of Juan Solanas, invited to the Section Un certain regard of the Cannes Festival. In 2008 she worked with Pablo Trapero in Leonera, presented in the Official Section of Cannes. In 2013 she won the Patagonik International Screenwriters Second Award for Antes y después… Y después otra vez. La novia del desierto is her first feature film as director.
