L’altrove più vicino. Un viaggio in Slovenia
A Slovenian Journey

Sinopsis

Documentary. The documentary is a journey across the borders of Italy and Slovenia to make us discover a land, a people, a culture, just beyond a mobile threshold, crossed and changed millions of times by the transmigrations of people, languages and traditions.

Elisabetta Sgarbi shows Slovenia through different perspectives. Slovenia in the words and eyes of Paolo Rumiz, met both in mystic or technological places to make us understand how deeply our roots can go into the ground of the other.

The Slovenia of Alojz Rebula, the great poet, in his first interview after many years. Although now blind, he continues to write on the beauty of his language and its intrinsic suitability for poetry and for offering different visions of literature

Slovenia through the memories of Claudio Magris, his paths on Mount Nevoso and the verses of the writer Marisa Madieri, his wife, exiled from Istria. The Slovenia from the so young and lively orchestra conducted by Maestro Igor Coretti-Kuret, born to transcend all kind of frontiers and to create a cultural and emotional continent.

Slovenia throughout passages by Boris Pahorby, set to music by Franco Battiato and performed by Toni Servillo. The film’s soundtrack is from Franco Battiato.
