Sinopsis
Documentary. Using five stories, set in Spain, the USA, Finland, India and Mexico, Batallas íntimas accompanies the resilient paths and reinvention of the main characters, who after having survived domestic violence espouse the argument that love shouldn’t hurt and that home should be the safest place in the world.
The first documentary by Lucía Gajá, Mi vida dentro was awarded the prize to the best documentary and to the best documentary directed by a woman in the International Film Festival of Morelia 2007, the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Human Rights Festival of Paris 2008, The jury’s Prize in the category of human rights in the BAFICI Festival in Buenos Aires 2008, the Best Documentary Award in the Documenta Festival Madrid 2008 and was nominated in the category of Best feature film to the Ariel Award. Mi vida dentro has participated also in important festivals like the Critic’s Week at Cannes 2008 in a special screening, the Festival Silverdocs in Washington DC, the Munich Festival and the Tribeca Festival in New York, among others. Gajá has also been nominated in three occasions to the Ariel Award of the Mexican Academy of Art and Filmmaking Science and won the Ariel 2005 for her short film Soy; with Batallas íntimas, her last work up to now, she was awarded the grant Just Films of the Ford Foundation.
