Miró studied Journalism and Law, graduating also at the Official School of Cinematography, where she also taught. She worked at the public television studios TVE since 1960 as an editorial assistant and producer. It has sometimes been said that her job as a female producer during the second half of the 1970s made her the forerunner in introducing democratic and progressive values into her work for television, especially in the episodes she was responsible for in the TV series Curro Jiménez and Los libros. She went from the small screen into the world of feature films, writing and directing several movies. In 1982 she became the General Director of Cinematography until 1985 and from this position, she promoted a structural change in the Spanish film creation whereby quality improved, although this had a negative impact on the number of films being produced. From her position of responsibility, she played a decisive role in recovering the A category of FIAPF in the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where she sent a great deal of the state grants initially intended for other Spanish film festivals. In 1985 she came back to filmmaking and directed Werther. In 1986 she accepted a political position again and directed the Spanish Radio and Television Agency until 1989, and during this period, she finally succeeded in opening the mythical Buñuel Studios in 1988. Throughout her career, she has obtained many awards for films such as El perro del hortelano, winner of seven Goya Awards, including the Goya for Best Direction, and for other films she directed, such as El crimen de Cuenca, Prince of Shadows (Beltenebros) and El pájaro de la felicidad. The same year she passed away, in 1997, she directed the theater play El anzuelo de Fenisa, by Lope de Vega.
