El agente Topo (The Mole Agent)
Sinopsis
Documentary. A client asks Rómulo, a private detective, to investigate the health situation of her mother, who lives in a retirement home. In order to carry out his mission, Rómulo hires Sergio, an 83 years old widower, who has to get admitted into the home. When inside, Sergio is a mole agent who struggles to fulfill his mission while inescapably, he starts getting involved in the lives of the women who live there.
Maite Alberdi Soto is a director, scriptwriter and reporter born on March 29, 1983, in Santiago de Chile. She graduated in Aesthetics and Social Communication at Pontificia Universidad de Chile, where she also studied to become an Audiovisual Director. Her work deals with intimate portraits of social microcosms. She directed documentaries such as El salvavidas (2011), La Once (Tea Time) (2014) and The Mole Agent (2020). She is also the co-author of the book entitled “Teorías de cine documental en Chile 1957-1973” about documentary films in Chile and she works as a teacher in several universities in Chile. Her name was on the list of Latin American authors who stood out with their narratives at the International Sundance Film Festival in 2020.
