Sinopsis
Fiction. After studying for several years in France, Selma opens her own psychoanalysis consulting office in a popular suburb of Tunis, just after the social and political revolution took place. Although starting her practice is difficult, demand soon starts to exceed her capacity. She has more demand than she can actually cope with. But In order to let her business grow, she needs a specific kind of license that she doesn’t have. While she tries to go through all the red tape tasks and visits required to make her dream come true, Selma meets again with a past that she thought she had left behind her.
Manele Labidi was born in 1982. She is a bi-national scriptwriter and director, from France and Tunisia. She studied political science and economics, and she worked in the financial world for a few years before becoming a film director. She participated in several projects, writing and directing for the theatre, the radio and television series. Her first short film, Une chambre à moi, is a tragicomic version of the book by Virginia Woolf, “A Room of One’s Own”. She participated in a scriptwriting program at La FÉMIS in Paris in 2016. Arab Blues is her first feature film.
