Sinopsis
Fiction. After an innocent game on the beach with their classmates at the beginning of the summer, the lives of five young orphaned sisters in a small Turkish village changes radically. Disgusted by the supposedly immoral behavior of the teenage girls, their grandmother and their uncle decide to take measures to guarantee the virginity and chastity of the five sisters, rushing them into their fate as future wives.
A Turkish Film Director born in Ankara, she grew in France, Turkey and the United States. A passionate film cinephile, she studied Film Direction at La Fémis in Paris, after a B.A. in Literature and an M.A. in African History in Johannesburg. Her graduating picture, Bir Damla, was screened at the Cannes Cinéfondation Festival and at the Locarno Festival. After graduating at La Fémis, she shot her first feature film, Mustang, which won prestigious awards and garnered nominations to the Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta Awards, among others.
In 2017 she wrote and directed her second feature film, Kings, and since then, she has focused her career in directing fiction for the small screen, with the series The First, The Handmaid’s Tale and Perry Mason.
