Sinopsis
Fiction. She is 60 years old and the leader of a very fanatic religious community. They all live with her in an isolated house, far from civilization. They are all together, like a family. They left everything and everyone, in order to be with Her. They live by strict rules, often very hard to follow – if bleeding for Her is required, they bleed. A suicide. Tears. An unknown character shows up at their doorstep on a rainy night, and he will change their lives forever. Emma, Sophie, Damía, the unknown newcomer and of course, Her, they will all be involved in the toughest test for a believer – believing.
Fuensanta Sonia Escolano Pujante, also known as Sonia Escolano, or as Fuensanta Escolano Pujante, is a Spanish film director, scriptwriter and writer. She was born in Alicante (Spain) in December 1980. She moved to Alcalá de Henares in 1996 to study humanities. She started to develop an interest in the world of acting and the movies. Then, she studied film directing and started to make short films with her friend, Sadrac González-Perellón, who is also a filmmaker. In 2009, she directed with him the underground feature film Myna has gone (Myna se va). The film got the Mention of Honor to Best Acting from the Jury at the Austin Film Festival. Among other Film Festivals, it also participated in the official section of several festivals, such as Athensfest, Les Rencontres des Cinémas d’Europe (in France), and the Bronx International Film Festival in New York. Between 2008 and 2011, Sonia also directed the theater company “Rotos y descosidos”, specialized in staging the plays by Federico García Lorca, and training opera singers to develop their acting skills. In March 2015, she published her first fictional novel, entitled El Rey Lombriz, based on a film script. In 2018, she wrote and directed her new feature film House of Sweat and Tears (Casa de Sudor y Lágrimas). The movie premiered at Frontières, in the Festival de Cannes. It was later selected to participate in the official section of the Austin Fantastic Fest (USA).
