Sanmao. La novia del desierto

San Mao. La novia del desierto

Sinopsis

Documentary. In the 1970s, the Chinese writer and traveler Sanmao lived a passionate love story with the Spanish scuba diver José María Quero. They traveled to the Spanish Sahara, where Sanmao wrote her daily experiences in the book “Stories of the Sahara” – a best seller event in Taiwan and China. Sanmao became an icon of the independent woman and the heroine of a life with touches of legend, where love, adventure, literature, and tragedy are all mixed together.

Marta Arribas y Ana Pérez de la Fuente

They work as a creative team since they directed in 2005 the documentary feature film El tren de la memoria on Spanish migrants in Europe. This body of work has received awards in national and international festivals. They have also directed documentaries for different television companies or programs (Documentos TV, Treinta Minutos, Imprescindibles) such as Héroes sin armas about the civil war in Spain (2010) and the biography entitled Carmen Laforet, la chica rara (2016), harvesting several awards.
