Driven by extensive archive material and interviews with those who know her, this is the astonishing story of how a triple outsider - a woman, a scientist, and an East German - became the de facto leader of the Free world. Despite having been Chancellor of Germany for sixteen years, the international public knows very little about her. This documentary has been made for an international audience.
Eva Weber is a director born in West Germany who moved to the United Kingdom just after her country's reunification. She is specialized in documentaries and fiction. She has been acclaimed for short films such as “The Solitary Life of Cranes”, “Reindeer” and “Field Study". Her films have won numerous awards at international film festivals, and she has received the Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award from the Sundance Institute.
