Sinopsis
Chinas is the story of three girls of Chinese origin who live in Madrid. Lucía, 9 years old, is the daughter of Chinese immigrants; her dream is to celebrate her birthday at Burger King, although her parents, who do not speak Spanish and work more than fourteen hours a day at their shop, think that this is a Spanish thing. Claudia is beginning to experience firsthand racism from teenagers. Xiang is adopted and asks questions about her biological family. They meet and get apart while keeping a common objective: the search of their own identity.
Arantxa Echevarría is a director and screenwriter. Her first feature film, “Carmen y Lola “, was nominated for eight Goya Awards in 2019, winning two, best new director and best supporting actress for Carolina Yuste. The script was also a finalist for the Julio Alejandro award from the Spanish General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE). In addition, she was selected in 2018 for the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Festival, making Arantxa the first Spanish female director to be selected for the Fortnight. She also competed for the Caméra d'or award for Best First Feature Film at the festival. In 2021, her feature film “La Familia Perfecta'' was released, a comedy starring Belén Rueda and José Coronado, distributed by Universal with the participation of Antena 3. That year, it achieved to be one of the ten best box-office films, number one on Netflix Spain and number two on Netflix worldwide. She has also directed for television the last episode of the series “El Cid '' and two episodes of “Días Mejores”, both for Amazon Prime.
