Sinopsis
When Hiam Abbass left her village to follow her dream of becoming an actress, she also left behind her mother, grandmother and seven sisters. Thirty years later, Lina, her filmmaker daughter, returns with her to travel through vanished places among scattered memories of four generations of Palestinian women.
Lina Soualem is a French-Palestinian-Algerian filmmaker and actress, born and based in Paris. After studying History and Political Science at the Sorbonne University, she began working in journalism and as a programmer at film festivals, seeking to combine her interests in cinema and the study of contemporary Arab societies. Lina worked as a programmer for the International Human Rights Film Festival in Buenos Aires and the Palest'In&Out Festival in Paris, among others. In 2019, she released her first feature-length documentary, Leur Algerie (Their Algeria). In recent years, Lina acted in three feature films directed by Hafsia Herzi, Hiam Abbass and Rayhana. Bye Bye Tiberias is her second feature-length documentary that has been screened worldwide. Currently, she works as an author and assistant director in fictions, documentaries and television series.
