Sinopsis
Biopic based on some supposedly true episodes from the life of German
philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. It focuses above all on the love triangle between
the philosopher, the uninhibited Lou Andreas Salomé and the psychologist Paul
Rée. Nietzsche, incapable of leading a life free of rules, like Lou's, and disgusted
by his hypocritical bourgeois upbringing, ends up going mad.
An Italian screenwriter and film director, she studied literature and graduated from
the Experimental Centre of Cinematography. Her most emblematic films are The
Night Porter and Beyond Good and Evil.
She has also dedicated herself to the Opera directing field. Her more outstanding
productions are, among others, La Traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi, conducted by
Riccardo Muti at La Scala; Cavalleria Rusticana, by Pietro Mascagni, and Manon
Lescaut, by Giacomo Puccini.
At the 2019 Mostra de Valencia-Cinema del Mediterrani she received the Palm of
Honour as an award for her entire career and for being "a fighter who has paved
the way for other women in the film field".
