Sinopsis
Sam Cowell (Rachel Sennott) is a young aspiring stand-up comedian and nanny who struggles with PTSD, as she decides whether or not to join the search for Brooke, a missing teenager she used to care for.
Ally Pankiw is a writer and director who works in television, film, and brand projects. One of her achievements in television was directing the entire first season of the Netflix comedy series, *Feel Good*, which features the performances of Mae Martin and Lisa Kudrow, and has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. She also directed a group of episodes for the second season of Shrill on Hulu and also some episodes for the second season of the Emmy-winning series *The Great*.
Previously, Ally served as a story editor at *Schitt's Creek* and created an original animated comedy series alongside its star and creator, Dan Levy, for Hulu and 20th Century Animation. The series is titled *Standing By* and features performances by Levy, Glenn Close, David Tennant, Samira Wiley, Poppy Liu and Natalie Palamides.
Ally's first feature film was recently written and directed in Canada, in collaboration with Telefilm, WME Independent, and Barn 12 Inc. This dark comedy-drama stars were Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies), Olga Petsa (Mixtape), and Jason Jones, and premiered at SXSW 2023. In 2018, Ally was selected as one of Film Independent's Directing Lab fellows for her film *The Hiding House*, and in 2015, her Bravo-funded short film, *Stake*, was presented at a variety of international festivals. She is also the recipient of the 2016 BravoFACT grant, in conjunction with the Harold Greenberg Fund and the Inside Out Short to Feature Award, for her film *The Inherent Traits of Connor James*.
Ally began her career as part of a directing collective, with which she directed and produced music videos for artists such as Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Janelle Monae, The Arkells, The Vamps, and Lil Jon. Since then, she has been conquering the commercial arena, working with renowned brands such as Pepsi, Amazon, Adidas, Nylon, Differin, WestJet, Maltesers, and Chanel, as well as artists such as MUNA and Phoebe Bridgers.
Currently, she is represented by Partizan and WME.
