Sinopsis
Nevenka F., councillor for the Town-Hall of Ponferrada, was sexually harassed by the city’s the Mayor in 2000. After denouncing it, she will pay a very high price.
Director, screenwriter and actress, Iciar Bollain (Madrid, 1967) began in cinema as an actress at the age of 15 under the orders of Víctor Erice in 'El sur' (1983). In 1991 she founded Producciones La Iguana to promote her own projects as a director. ‘Hi, are you alone?' (1995) was her first feature film. Later came films such as 'Flowers from Another World' (1999); 'Take My Eyes' (2003), for which she received two Goya® Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay; 'Mataharis' (2007); 'Even the Rain' (2010), with a screenplay by Paul Laverty; 'Kathmandu Lullaby' (2011). The filmmaker tried her hand at the documentary genre in 'In a Foreign Land' (2014) to return to fiction with 'The Olive Tree' (2016). Two years later she premiered 'Yuli' (2018) and in 2020 she directed Candela Peña in 'Rosa's Wedding'. In 2021 she premiered 'Maixabel', starring Blanca Portillo, marking a milestone in post-pandemic Spanish cinema, becoming the most watched Spanish drama film in cinemas that year with more than half a million viewers, as well as generating social conversation of great importance and achieving very outstanding awards. Founder of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media), her cinema combines sensitivity and elegance.
