Discover the Venezuelan film "Oriana" by Fina Torres, one of the most recognized Venezuelan filmmakers who led the "New Latin American Cinema" movement. The film's powerful narrative opens paths to a different discourse, as a renewing and intimate women’s point of view. Torres highlights the resilience, growth and role of women in a society, also presenting the breaking of traditional structures of gender, race and social class. After the screening, there will be a discussion with the director Fina Torres and Juan Carlos Lossada , who has been president of the CNAC in Venezuela, where he promoted several initiatives to support cinema, who will share their vision on the representation of women in Venezuelan cinema. Presented by Andreína Monasterio Andrade, journalist, has worked in organizations such as Transparency International and co-founded Gente Que Comunica, where she serves as Vice-President.
Andreína Monasterio Andrade
Andreína Monasterio Andrade is a Venezuelan journalist, graduated from the Santa María University, with experience in media such as RCTV and El Nacional. In Spain, since 2014, in Spain, she has worked in organizations such as Transparency International and co-founded Gente Que Comunica, where she serves as Vice- President, focusing on support for the Hispanic American diaspora and volunteering.

Fina Torres
Fina Torres is a Venezuelan director and producer. She studied design, photography and journalism in Venezuela before moving to Paris, where she earned a PhD in cinematography at the Institute of Higher Film Studies (IDHEC). In 1985, she won the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and twelve other international awards for her debut film Oriana. Shee subsequently co-wrote, produced, and directed the comedy Celestial Clockwork in 1993, winning four international awards. She also directed the romantic comedy Woman on Top for Fox, nominated in 2001 for the Best Director award at the Alma Festival.

Juan Carlos Lossada is a Venezuelan cultural manager, film producer and researcher with a 30-year experience in Ibero-American cinema. He was Executive Secretary of Ibero-American Cinematography and presided over the Venezuelan Film Institute, where he created the Film Financing and Promotion Fund (Fonprocine). He has produced and co-produced 37 audiovisual works, selected and awarded at international festivals such as Cairo, Montreal, Tallinn and Biarritz. He is the founder and director of the production company Films Austères. Lossada holds a degree in International Studies, with master’s degrees in International Business and in Writing and Analysis for Film and Television.
