Sinopsis
Justine, 16, belongs to a family of convinced veterinarians and vegetarians. As she begins her first year at veterinary school, where her sister is also studying, she faces traditional hazing. During one of these rituals, she is forced to eat meat for the first time, an act that will trigger consequences as unexpected as they are disturbing.
Julia Ducournau graduated in screenwriting from La Fémis. In 2011 she became known with Junior, a short film selected at the Cannes Critics' Week and awarded at Angers. Her first feature film, Raw (2016), caused a great impact and won the FIPRESCI award at Cannes. It was screened and awarded at festivals such as Toronto, Sundance, Gérardmer and Sitges, and was distributed internationally. In 2019 she received the Gan Fondation Award for Titane, her second feature film, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2021, making her the second woman to do so. She has also directed episodes for the series Servant (2021) and New Look (2024), both Apple TV+ productions.
