In die Sonne schauen (Sound of falling)

Four young women at different times. Alma, Erika, Angelika and Lenka's adolescence takes place on the same farm in northern Germany. The house is transformed as the decades go by, but the echo of the past resonates within the old walls.

Mascha Schilinski, screenwriter and director, was born in Berlin in 1984, to a German mother and a French father. She graduated from the screenwriting program at the Filmschule Hamburg Berlin (Berlin Film School Hamburg) in 2008 before studying directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. During her second year at the Academy, she directed the award-winning medium-length film Die Katze (The Cat). In her third year, she directed the feature film Die Tochter (The Daughter), which premiered at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival, was nominated for the GWFF Award for Best First Film and screened at more than forty international festivals, where it received several awards. In 2023 she won, with her co-writer Louise Peter, the Thomas Strittmatter Award for the screenplay of Sound of falling.
