Sinopsis
Lucy, a singer and pianist, has just moved her family from an apartment in the city to a house in the countryside, hoping that she will recover from deep professional burnout and exhaustion.
Born in Graz in 1977, she is one of Austria’s most acclaimed filmmakers. After graduating from an alternative high school with a focus on the arts, she studied screenwriting and acting at the Vienna Film School.
Her debut feature, Die Vaterlosen, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2011, where she returned in 2019 with Der Boden unter den Füssen. The Empress premiered in the “Un Certain Regard” section at Cannes in 2022, before being invited to more than 70 festivals worldwide and receiving nominations for, among others, the European Film Awards and the BAFTAs.
