As every year, thanks to the collaboration of Fundación SGAE, a diverse selection of 13 feature films, selected by the Festival's Programming Committee are scheduled at the Sala Berlanga and will compete for the Best Spanish Film Award 2025.
The jury for this award will be made up of three film critics, members of the Asociación Premios Blogos de Oro: Susana Cabeza, founder of the blogs "Claqueta, Luces y Acción" and "Fotografía y Lugares"; Isra Calzado, co-founder of festivals such as FESCIMED and 4661 Film Fest; and Mariasun Mikel, cultural journalist and co-director of Guadix Iridescent, a queer and feminist International Film Festival.
The award consists of a bonus of €3,000 on the rental of lighting equipment, courtesy of Aluzine and €3,000 in discounts on the rental of film equipment, courtesy of RC Service, both for the next project carried out by the director of the winning film. As a great novelty, this year we present the Baturu Award for Best New Director in the Spanish Competition, awarded to a new filmmaker for her first or second solo feature film released in cinemas. This prize, decided by the jury, consists of a one-month Creative Residency in Bangkok, courtesy of the Baturu Festival, including round-trip plane tickets (economy class), accommodation in an apartment (30 days) and per diem (1,000 baht per day).
Completing these fiction films in the Sala Berlanga, we have programmed a special screening, out of competition, of a documentary feature film about Dolores Ibárruri, popularly known as La Pasionaria.
To make the festival even more special, most of the screenings in the competition will be presented by their films’ directors, producers or stars, who will dialogue with the audience after the screening.
