#8. The 8th edition of the Madrid Films by Women Festival presents the 12 feature films selected for the International Competition, as well as 2 films out of competition
The Madrid Films by Women Festival will screen twelve international feature films (not released in Spain or Madrid) at the Cineteca Madrid. They will compete for the 2025 Best International Film Award. Those in charge of deciding the winning film of this edition make up an exceptional jury: Arantxa Echevarría, María Silveyro and Martina Gusman.
And there's more: the audience will be able to attend the screenings of two other international feature films (one Palestinian and one Chinese) out of competition. Find out about them!
Finally, we already have the digital brochure with the entire festival program!
One of the purposes of the Madrid Films by Women Festival is to bring viewers closer to some of the cinematographic works that are produced internationally and that, despite winning important awards abroad, often take time to arrive – or never arrive – to Spanish cinemas.
In this eighth edition, which will be held between October 28th and November 9th, the festival will screen at Cineteca Madrid 14 feature films not yet released in Spain or Madrid, from 13 countries. 12 will compete for the 2025 Best International Film Award and two will be screened out of competition.

Also out of competition, in collaboration with the Baturu Festival in China, is Village Music, by Lina Wong (China), a musical film that shows the life of a family of Uyghur musicians in the heart of the Taklamakan desert, who perform muqam, a traditional art form that combines music, song and poetry, declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
