Thirteen days of cinema, culture, and encounters with the most groundbreaking film professionals. 🎬

Summer is coming to an end, but this also means that one of the most eagerly awaited dates for film lovers is fast approaching: this fall we will be celebrating the eighth edition of the Cine por Mujeres Madrid Film Festival! From October 28 to November 9, Madrid will be once again the meeting point for the best films made by women, with a selection of more than 70 feature films (yes, 70!) including fiction and documentaries, both national and international. 

📍17 locations

This edition, divided into 17 sections, will be held in 17 fantastic venues across the capital, where the best cinema will shine!

The International Competition (10 feature films) and the International Panorama (4 feature films) will be screened at Cineteca Madrid, while the Sala Berlanga at the Fundación SGAE will host the Spanish Competition (12 feature films). The remaining venues are: the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the National Library of Spain, Casa de América, Casa Árabe in Madrid, Cinemateca Pedro Zerolo, Cinesa Proyecciones, DAMA-Audiovisual Media Copyright, Camilo José Cela University Graduate School, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Fundación Casa de México en España, Goethe Institut Madrid, Instituto Francés, Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, Palacio de la Prensa, and Sala Equis.

🇫🇷 France, the star cinematography of FOCUS

This year, our FOCUS section will be dedicated to France and will feature distinguished guests from the French film scene. The eight feature films selected, which are premiering in Madrid (and some in Spain), are directed by some of the most powerful and innovative female voices of the moment. The six films participating in Focus France 2025 will be screened at the French Institute and the Film Academy; the International Competition will be screened at Cineteca Madrid, and Cinesa Proyecciones cinemas will host the opening gala, where one of the most eagerly awaited films of the season will be screened... Surprise!

📚 And much more! Professional and formative activities

In addition to feature film screenings, there will be loads of activities for learning and sharing: round tables, colloquiums, master classes, and meetings with fascinating professionals from the international and Spanish film industry. All with the aim of promoting knowledge and equality in all stages of filmmaking.

Can't attend in person? Don't worry! Many of our films will be available online via the FILMIN platform and on 8madrid TV, which will broadcast a special series on women directors. 

Films directed BY women (not FOR women or ABOUT women) have been the cornerstone of the Cine por Mujeres Madrid Festival, which, since 2018, has been screening excellent feature films for all audiences, with special attention to the younger generations, who are the future of this art form that we love so much. Now in its eighth edition, we remain committed to plural, diverse, and powerful cinema. You're sure to find a film that leaves a lasting impression on you.
