China will be the guest country at the IV edition Festival de Cine por mujeres, Madrid, to be held from 27 October to 7 November 2021
The IV Festival de Cine por mujeres, Madrid, which brings to the public a selection of recent national and international films directed by women to contribute to their visibility, will take place between 27 October and 7 November 2021 in different venues and a mixed format: on-site and online.
With the attendance of 23,656 spectators in the cinema and online and 639 media impacts worth 1,035,392 euros in the last edition, held in November 2020, the event has strengthened its position within the national festival scene at a very difficult time for the sector. Over the last 3 years we have been growing in quality, number of films and venues.
In addition, we are strengthening our presence in Spain through the prestigious online independent and auteur cinema platform FILMIN, where we will replicate part of the programme and the main sections.
The 4th edition of the festival is expanding its cinematographic offer with a special focus on the most innovative Chinese cinema with a selection of 6 films that will be seen at the Academia de Cine and Cineteca Madrid, which will make up the Focus China section, programmed in collaboration with the China Women's Film Festival, who is joining the project for the first time.
China Women's Film Festival started in 2013, is dedicated to providing aspiring women storytellers and filmmakers a platform that encourages original content creation and project development. CWFF strives to support women by sharing their work with the public, promoting equal opportunities, encouraging professional development, and serving as a resource and information network to the women in the community.
New this year, the festival extends its programme to the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Madrid and to the Salón de Actos of the Postgraduate School of the University Camilo José Cela and will maintain its presence in other venues that have supported the festival in previous editions: Academia de Cine, Casa Árabe (Madrid y Córdoba), Casa de América, Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cineteca Madrid, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Goethe-Insitut Madrid, Institut Français de Madrid, La Morada de Malasaña, mk2 Palacio de Hielo, Palacio de la Prensa, Sala Berlanga de la Fundación SGAE, Sala Equis, FILMIN y 8madrid TV.
The transmission of knowledge is one of the fundamental values of this festival, which is why conferences, round tables, meetings and presentations will be hold in different venues. The varied themes of the films will be an opportunity to talk about aspects of reality from the approach taken by women, with the participation of directors, scriptwriters, producers, actresses, directors of photography, distributors, animation directors, editors, sound engineers, visual effects specialists, art directors, localisers, scriptwriters, composers... all of them creators.
The IV edition of Festival de Cine por mujeres, Madrid, builds on the success of previous editions, whose figures endorse the project, and once again enjoys the invaluable support of sponsoring companies as well as numerous public and private collaborating entities, which renew their commitment to cinema and equality.
