¿WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ‘FILM PREMIERES’?
Thanks to a grant from the Centro de Coordinación de Industrias Culturales del Ministerio de Cultura del Gobierno de España, RAMPA is promoting the international premiere of Spanish feature films directed by women, supporting the international mobility of Spanish women filmmakers, encouraging the exchange of experiences, and fostering cultural cooperation. The initiative also showcases Spain’s cultural diversity and strengthens its image as a leading cultural reference.
A total of 13 feature films by Spanish women directors will be screened at 3 international host festivals. Each of these festivals will premiere a selection of at least 6 recently produced feature films, chosen from those featured in the “Spanish Competition” section of the last two editions of the Festival Cine por Mujeres Madrid (Spanish Competition 2024 and 2023). Since the programming has been curated by the programming committees of each individual festival, the selected lineups reflect a wide range of perspectives and criteria. Some of the films will be shown at more than one festival, and each film may be screened more than once. In total, 29 screenings will take place: 8 in Vannes (France), 7 in Beijing (China), 7 in Shanghai (China), and 7 in San José, Costa Rica.
In addition to providing international visibility for Spanish cinema, the initiative fosters networking and encourages the participation of Spanish women directors in international festivals and markets. One or two directors of the selected feature films will travel to each of the three international festivals to present their films to local audiences, engage in post-screening discussions, give talks about their careers, and take part in networking activities and exclusive professional meetings with fellow directors, producers, distributors, and industry experts. They will be accompanied by the co-directors of RAMPA, who will present the project as a whole.
