From October 25 to November 6 we return to cinemas to celebrate the 5th edition of Madrid Films by Women Festival with a first-class jury and new venues!
After the holiday break we are back with lots of news and very excited to share everything that is to come this fall, so... take note!
The 5th edition of Madrid Films by Women Festival will be held from October 25 to November 6, 2022. During its celebration, 22 venues in the capital will host a varied selection of approximately 70 recent national and international featured films directed by women as well as 12 professional training activities. The Focus Section this year will be dedicated to the cinematography of the Netherlands. Additionally, a large part of the programming will be available on Filmin, and also, 8madrid TV will broadcast a cycle of 7 films from its female authorship catalogue.
As a novelty, in this edition we will have the Spanish Cinematheque (Filmoteca Española) and the National Library of Spain as new screening venues, as well as the usual ones: Spanish Film Academy, Casa Árabe (Madrid and Córdoba), Casa América, Casa de México in Spain Foundation, Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes, Institut Français of Madrid, La Morada de Malasaña, mk2 Palacio de Hielo, mk2 Cines Paz, Madrid Cinematheque, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Palacio de la Prensa, Pedro Zerolo Cinematheque, Sala Berlanga of the SGAE Foundation and Sala Equis.
The venues for professional training activities will be: Casa de América, Casa de México in Spain Foundation, Cine Doré of Spanish Cinematheque, Cinemateca Pedro Zerolo, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Goethe-Institut Madrid, Institut Français of Madrid, and the Assembly Hall of the Postgraduate School of the Camilo José Cela University.
For this year's INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, we have a first-class jury composed by the Spanish actress Irene Escolar, the Argentinian director Ana Katz and the Spanish director Víctor García León, who will be deciding the 2022 Films by Women Festival Best Film Award.
In the SPANISH FEMALE AUTHORS COMPETITION, the jury, which will award the Films by Women Festival 2022 Best Spanish Film Award, is integrated by three Blogos de Oro Association members: Marta Pedraza, editor-in-chief of MagaZinema, Mariasun Miquel, cultural journalist at Nokton Magazine and Ana Maccanuco, editor of the magazine 35 Millimeters.
The 2022 Films by Women Festival Professional Achievement Award will be proposed by the festival's Programming Committee and will be announced during the V edition Opening Gala which will take place at the Palacio de la Prensa.
