
Isabel Coixet will receive the 2022 Professional Career Award at the 5th Madrid Films by Women Festival
Year after year, Madrid Films by Women Festival works to enhance and raise awareness of the cinematographic work of professional women in our country; thus, giving visibility to female references and rewriting our cinema's history in terms of equality. The festival strongly believes that knowledge constitutes the first step in women’s inclusion and recognition.
For this reason, in this edition, the 2022 Professional Career Award of the Madrid Films by Women Festival, granted by the festival's Programming Committee, will go to Isabel Coixet, for her ethical commitment, for her sensitivity in observing and her way of narrating interpersonal relationships, for having achieved an important international reputation and for being a filmmaker who has paved the way for the new generation of female directors, being a great reference in Spanish cinema.
The Award will be presented at the festival's Opening Gala on Tuesday, October 25th at the Palacio de la Prensa. It will consist of a jewel-award from the renowned designer Chus Burés, a selection of cinema accessories – courtesy of Cinetools – and a mobile phone, 12 Lite model, courtesy of Xiaomi Iberia.
In addition, Isabel Coixet will present the Madrid premiere of her latest documentary El Sostre Groc (2022), on Wednesday, October 26th at 9:00 pm at the Berlanga Hall of the SGAE Foundation, in a special screening – out of competition. On the other hand, her film A los que aman (1998) will be broadcast on 8madrid TV, as part of the special programming dedicated to the festival.
