The Madrid Films by Women Festival joins the SPANISH CINEMA DAY, which is celebrated today, October 6th, by presenting the Spanish Authors Competition, as well as other Spanish films out of competition, included in this 6th edition’s programming.
This initiative, launched in 2021 by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audio-visual Arts (ICAA), aims in its third edition to celebrate and honour all the people who throughout history have contributed to the world of cinema. Directors, screenwriters, actors, producers, props managers, makeup artists, apprentices, lighting managers, directors of photography, scripters, art directors, tailors, electricians, editors and conductors, who make possible the stories we see on screen. The Spanish Cinema Day is, therefore, the day “of all those who make our cinema possible.”

OPENING AND CLOSING GALAS

| This edition of the Madrid Films by Women Festival will start and end with two Spanish Films: “Un Amor” by Isabel Coixet, who will present it at the opening gala, and “Teresa”, by Paula Ortiz, who will present her film at the closing gala. Spanish cinema will, therefore, be the protagonist of the two ceremonies, held at the Palacio de la Prensa, giving visibility to the quality and variety of our cinematography. |
