Sinopsis
Animation. “Culotées” is the animated adaptation of the work of Pénélope Bagieu, published in 2016. Apache warrior or Hollywood mermaid, house light keeper or creator of trolls, gynecologist or empress, rock star or bearded woman, athlete or shaman, explorer or astronaut ... From Hedy Lamarr, Hollywood actress and producer, but above all inventor of the technology behind WiFi, to Annette Kellerman, extraordinary swimmer and inventor of the modern swimsuit, to Leymah Gbowee, social worker, Liberian activist and Nobel Prize winner. All these women are united by a common denominator: the fact that they have acted in a way that has changed their lives, as well as on the rebound, their time and their entire societies. These women, with their stubbornness, fearlessness, and strength of character, have faced adversity, overcome prejudice, and broken-down barriers.
Charlotte Cambon de Lavalette studied animation at Gobelins, the School of Image, and then directed at the Poudrière school in Valence. Her films deal with family, relationships, everyday poetry. Recently, she was part of the Desnos Coming out of School (Tant Mieux Prod) collection, where she directed the film ‘Dans un petit bateau’.
Phuong Mai Nguyen graduated from Gobenlis in 2009 and La Poudrière in 2011 as an animated film director, since then she has directed several short films, including ‘Chez Moi’, which was shortlisted for the Césars and shortlisted for the Oscars in 2016. She was also a graphic author of the short film ‘Celui qui a deux âmes’ -The one with two souls-, which received the award for Best Short Film at the César Awards 2017.Main Festivals and Awards: Awarded at the 2019 Venice festival.
