Libertad
Sinopsis
Fiction. After a long time without meeting at their summer home, the Vidal family spends the last vacation with Grandmother Angela, who suffers from advanced Alzheimer's. For the first time in her life, Nora, 14, feels that she does not find her place: children's games seem ridiculous and adult conversations are still difficult to her. But everything changes with the arrival of Libertad, 15, the daughter of Rosana, the Colombian woman who takes care of Angela. Rebellious and magnetic, Libertad becomes the gateway to a different summer for Nora and the two girls quickly forge an intense and uneven friendship. Together they emerge from the bubble of protection and comfort that the family home represents and discover a new world in which Nora feels freer than ever.
"Libertad" is Clara Roquet’s first feature film. Previously she co-wrote the script of "10.000KM", for which, together with Carlos Marques-Marcet, she received the Silver Biznaga for Best New Screenwriter and the Gaudí Award for Best Screenplay. In addition, she has collaborated as a screenwriter with Jaime Rosales on his latest feature film, "Petra".
Her first project as a director was the short film "El Adiós" (2015), winner of the Golden Spike at SEMINCI, nominated for the European Film Awards, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and winner of the Gaudí for Best Short Film in 2016. Her second short film "Les Bones Nenes" (2017) received the "Movistar + short project" award and obtained the Special Mention for Best Ibero-American Short Film at the Guadalajara International Festival (Mexico), among others.
Prior to filming, the "Libertad" project was selected at the Mediterranean Sundance Lab, as well as at the Mia Market international markets in Rome or the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum associated with the San Sebastian Festival, where it won an ARTEKino award.
Presented by the director of the film, Clara Roquet and the co-director of the Festival.
