Sinopsis
Fiction. On a cold Sunday morning in Mexico City, three friends in their twenties look for a female friend that vanishes at a divey after-party. The search takes them through different places in the city, where they face the realities of contemporary Mexico. As the day progresses, the friends clash and confront each other, revealing their life situation and future plans, and when sobriety catches up to them, issues that had been swept under the rug surface jeopardizing their friendship and their own essence.
Mariana holds a B.F.A in Filmmaking from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and a M.A in Screenwriting from The London Film School. In 2017, she participated as a Berlinale screenwriter talent at The Guadalajara Film Festival. In 2017, she launched FLAT D, a film production company based in Mexico City. In 2018, Fractal, her first feature length film as a director won the Cinecolor post-production award at the incubator of The Guanajuato Film Festival. In 2020 Fractal premiered at the Zonazine section of The Malaga Film Festival, and waspart of the official selection at The Guanajuato Film Festival, The Calgary Int. FilmFestival, The Merida Film Festival (where she was awarded by the jury as “BestDirector”), and The Women in Film and TV Showcase in Mexico City. Her work hasalso been featured at The San Diego Latino Film Festival and Filmfestival Max-Ophüls-Preis. Mariana has been a mentor at The London Film School for the past two years. She is currently developing scripted content for film and TV with her company, and works as a freelance writer and director.
